Chevy Chase, an American actor, comedian, and writer, rose to fame during the inaugural season of Saturday Night Live, particularly for his popular recurring Weekend Update segment. He went on to have a successful career in comedy films, such as National Lampoon’s Vacation, Caddyshack, and Fletch, as well as television shows like Community and The Office. Chase has won two Primetime Emmy Awards for his work on The National Lampoon Radio Hour and SNL.
Interestingly, Chase declined the role of Forrest Gump in the 1994 film, a decision he later regretted as Tom Hanks won an Academy Award for Best Actor for the part. Despite being bullied in school due to his name, which originated from the medieval English ballad “The Ballad of Chevy Chase,” he eventually embraced it.
