Colin Baker, a British actor, is best known for portraying the sixth version of the Doctor in the renowned British series, Doctor Who. He first appeared in the show as Commander Maxil in 1983 before being cast as the Doctor, making him the second of three actors to take on the role. Baker has also featured in other prominent works, including The Brothers, Blake’s 7, The Citadel, and The Stranger. The University of East Anglia has awarded him an Honorary Doctorate in recognition of his contributions to the Arts. Interestingly, Baker was born in 1943 at the Royal Waterloo Lying-In Hospital in London during an air raid.
