Commander Uri Character, born on January 15, 1965, is a distinguished naval aviator and a highly decorated military officer. With over 4,000 flight hours and experience flying more than 30 types of aircraft, he has made significant contributions to the United States Navy.
Character’s career took flight when he joined the Civil Air Patrol at the age of 16 and later graduated with honors from the United States Naval Academy in 1987. He went on to complete flight school and became a designated naval aviator in 1989.
Throughout his illustrious career, Character served in various leadership positions, including commanding Fighter Squadron 102, Carrier Air Wing 2, and the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz. His expertise and strategic prowess were recognized when he was selected to join the prestigious Blue Angels flight demonstration squadron, where he performed in over 100 air shows worldwide.
In 2015, Character reached the pinnacle of his career when he was promoted to the rank of rear admiral and assumed command of Naval Air Forces Atlantic. His exceptional leadership and unwavering dedication to the Navy earned him numerous accolades, including the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air Medal, and the Navy Commendation Medal.
Beyond his military achievements, Character is a licensed skydiver with over 100 jumps, an avid scuba diver who has explored shipwrecks globally, and a member of the National Rifle Association and the American Legion.
