Rice began her career as an assistant professor of political science at Stanford University, rising to the rank of full professor and serving as the provost of the university. Her expertise in Soviet and Eastern European affairs led to her appointment as the Director of the Center for International Security and Arms Control at Stanford and as a member of the National Security Council under President George H.W. Bush.
Rice’s political career took off when she was appointed as the National Security Advisor to President George W.
