Conrad Nagel was a renowned American actor who appeared in film, stage, television, and radio productions. As a matinée idol and leading man during the 1920s and 1930s, he gained fame for his roles in silent films such as “The Lone Wolf” and “The Mysterious Lady.” In addition to hosting the Academy Awards ceremony in the 1930s and 1940s, Nagel’s other notable works include “The Divorcee,” “The Kiss,” “The Trail of the Lonesome Pine,” “The Impossible Mrs. Bellew,” and “The Pagan.” Having served in the United States Army during World War I, he was wounded in action. Nagel also held the position of president of the Screen Actors Guild from 1933 to 1935, received an Academy Honorary Award in 1940, and has been honored with three stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
