Joseph Allen “Country Joe” McDonald, an American musician, gained prominence as the lead vocalist for the 1960s psychedelic rock band Country Joe and the Fish. He is best known for his Vietnam War protest song “The Fish Cheer/I-Feel-Like-I’m-Fixin’-to-Die Rag.” After serving in the United States Navy, McDonald attended Los Angeles City College. He has released numerous albums, such as “Thinking of Woody Guthrie” and “Superstitious Blues,” and remains an influential figure in the counterculture music scene.
