Richard Francis O’Neill, commonly known as Dick O’Neill, was a renowned American actor recognized for his work in stage, film, and television. He was particularly famous for his roles in ‘The Taking of Pelham One Two Three’ and ‘The Jerk.’ O’Neill also made appearances in popular TV series such as ‘Miami Vice,’ ‘Kojak,’ and ‘Law & Order.’ As a character actor, he often portrayed Irish cops, fathers, judges, and army generals. Before his acting career, O’Neill served in the United States Navy during World War II. Some of his other notable works include ‘Sea of Love’ and ‘Moonstruck.’ He passed away on November 17, 1998, in Santa Monica, California, at the age of 70.
