Earl Campbell, also known as “The Tyler Rose,” was a former American football running back who played for the Houston Oilers in the NFL. He had an impressive college career at the University of Texas at Austin from 1974 to 1977, where he gained 928 rushing yards and scored six touchdowns in his freshman year.

Campbell began his professional career in 1978 when he was drafted as the first overall pick by the Houston Oilers. He quickly gained a reputation for his powerful style of play, becoming one of the most dominant rushers in NFL history. One of his most memorable performances was in a 1978 game against the Miami Dolphins.

Throughout his career, Campbell received numerous accolades and honors, including being a 5-time Pro Bowl selection, a 3-time All-Pro, and the AP Most Valuable Player in 1979. He also won the AP Offensive Player of the Year award three times and was named the AP Offensive Rookie of the Year in 1978.
