He gained widespread recognition for his insightful and critically acclaimed book, “Soul on Ice,” a collection of essays that delves into Black alienation in the United States. Cleaver authored several other works, such as “Post-Prison Writings and Speeches” and “Target Zero: A Life in Writing.” As the Minister of Information for the Black Panther Party, he played a significant role in the civil rights movement.
