Elsa is a beloved fictional character who appears in Walt Disney Animation Studios’ 53rd animated feature film Frozen (2013) and its sequel Frozen II (2019). Voiced by the talented actress and singer Idina Menzel, Elsa is the elder daughter of King Agnarr and Queen Iduna of Arendelle and has a younger sister named Anna. The name Elsa has Old Norse origins, meaning “noble” or “grace.”
Born with the extraordinary ability to create and control ice and snow, Elsa’s powers first manifested during her childhood. Unfortunately, she accidentally injured Anna with her magic, leading her parents to lock her away in a secluded room in the castle to protect her sister. This isolation caused Elsa to grow up feeling alone and afraid of her own powers.

Elsa’s most notable achievements include saving Arendelle from an eternal winter and creating the beautiful ice palace. As a powerful and kind-hearted ruler, Elsa is loved by her people.
Elsa’s character has received numerous awards for her role in Frozen, including an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature Film, a Golden Globe Award for Best Animated Feature Film, and a BAFTA Award for Best Animated Film. Her song “Let It Go” has become one of the most popular Disney songs of all time, translated into over 40 languages.
