Ezzard Charles, a two-time world heavyweight champion, is considered one of the greatest boxers of all time due to his exceptional speed, agility, and punching power. After serving in the military, he returned to boxing as a light heavyweight, defeating renowned opponents such as Archie Moore, Jimmy Bivins, Lloyd Marshall, and Elmer Ray. Despite facing financial difficulties, Charles continued to fight, participating in 23 bouts after losing to Marciano. He also trained future champions and was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame. Before turning professional, Charles won multiple amateur championships, including two Golden Gloves titles. He secured the National Boxing Association title by defeating Walcott and enjoyed a successful career in the heavyweight division. Although footage of Charles’ career is incomplete, he is remembered as one of the most naturally talented boxers to ever enter the ring. Notably, Charles achieved significant victories as both a world heavyweight champion and a light heavyweight.
