Faith Ringgold, an American artist, author, and activist, has spent over six decades creating powerful artwork that captures the beauty and complexity of the Black experience. She is renowned for her pieces such as “The Flag is Bleeding” and “Tar Beach,” which delve into themes of racism and discrimination. Ringgold has received numerous accolades for her work, including the Guggenheim Fellowship and the National Endowment for the Arts Award. Beyond her artistic achievements, she served as an art professor at the University of California, San Diego for two decades. Recently, Ringgold’s work was showcased in a major retrospective at New York’s New Museum, and she has published a new book with Phaidon.
