Freddy Fender, a renowned American Tejano and country musician, was celebrated for his unique vocal style and blending of rock, blues, and Latin music genres. His most famous song, “Before the Next Teardrop Falls,” reached number one in the US, selling over a million copies. Fender was a member of the supergroup Texas Tornados and was inducted into the Latin Music Hall of Fame. Some of his other well-known songs include “Wasted Days and Wasted Nights,” “Secret Love,” “Living It Down,” and “I’m Leaving It All Up to You,” which, despite not being a top ten hit, remains one of his most recognized songs.
Apart from his musical career, Fender was a gifted visual artist, displaying his artwork in galleries and exhibitions during his breaks from touring. He was also a skilled carpenter, constructing homes for himself and his family.
Freddy Fender passed away on October 14, 2006, at the age of 69.
