George S. Kaufman was a renowned American playwright, director, producer, humorist, theater journalist, and editor, recognized for his sharp wit and satirical comedy. He frequently collaborated with other writers, producing successful works such as “The Cocoanuts” and “Animal Crackers” for the Marx Brothers. Among his many accomplishments, Kaufman won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama for “You Can’t Take It with You” and was a founding member of the Algonquin Round Table, a group that significantly influenced American humor and literary culture. Some of his other notable works include “Dinner at Eight,” “The Man Who Came to Dinner,” and “Stage Door.”
