Harriet Ellan Miers, an American attorney, held various positions under President George W. Bush, including White House counsel from 2005 to 2007, staff secretary from 2001 to 2003, and Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy from 2003 to 2005. Although nominated for Associate Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court in 2005, she withdrew her name from consideration. In 1998, the National Law Journal ranked her as the most influential lawyer among the top 50. Miers also served as Co-Managing Partner at Locke, Liddell, & Sapp L.L.P. in 1999. The Supreme Court of Texas appointed her as Chair of the Texas Access to Justice Commission, effective January 1, 2022.
