Helen Reddy was an Australian-American singer, songwriter, and actress. She is best known for her empowering feminist anthem “I Am Woman,” which became a cultural touchstone in the 1970s. Throughout her career, Reddy released 18 studio albums and numerous hit singles. she starred in multiple television shows, including ‘The Carol Burnett Show’ and ‘The Muppet Show.’ Other notable works include her roles in the films ‘Pete’s Dragon’ and ‘Airport 1975.’ Reddy was also the first Australian-born artist to win a Grammy Award.
According to sources, Helen Reddy was named after her mother’s favorite aunt, Helen Lamond, and her father’s sister, Audrey Reddy.
Helen Reddy appeared as a guest star on numerous television shows, including ‘The Love Boat,’ ‘Fantasy Island,’ and ‘The Jeffersons.’ She also had her own variety series, ‘The Helen Reddy Show,’ which aired for one season in 1973.
