Jessica Williams, a renowned American jazz pianist and composer, was born in Baltimore, Maryland, in 1948. She started playing the piano at just four years old and later studied classical music at the Peabody Conservatory of Music. With her exceptional technique, rich harmonies, and skillful improvisation, Williams drew inspiration from jazz legends like Thelonious Monk and John Coltrane. Throughout her career, she released numerous albums and received three Grammy nominations. Dave Brubeck once praised her as “one of the greatest pianists I have ever heard.” Sadly, Williams passed away in March 2022 at the age of 73.
