Joe McKnight was a professional American football player who played as a running back in the National Football League (NFL). He gained prominence during his college career with the University of Southern California (USC) Trojans football team, where he set numerous records and received various accolades. In the 2010 NFL Draft, McKnight was selected by the New York Jets in the fourth round and went on to play for the Kansas City Chiefs and Edmonton Eskimos. Some of his notable achievements include being named a USA Today High School All-American and winning the 2007 Pete Dawkins Trophy as the MVP of the U.S. Army All-American Bowl. Despite struggling with asthma, McKnight excelled as an athlete. Tragically, he passed away on December 1, 2016, at the age of 28. An interesting fact about McKnight is that he was involved in a recruiting controversy, where he spoke to former USC running back Reggie Bush before choosing Southern California over favored LSU.
