Katsuhiro Otomo (大友 克洋, Ōtomo Katsuhiro) is a renowned Japanese manga artist, screenwriter, animator, and film director. He rose to global fame as the creator of the manga series ‘Akira,’ which was later transformed into a highly praised animated film in 1988. Otomo’s works frequently showcase motorcycles, mirroring his personal enthusiasm for them. Besides ‘Akira,’ his other prominent works include the manga series ‘Domu: A Child’s Dream’ and the animated film ‘Steamboy.’ Otomo has also participated in the production of other anime films such as ‘Short Peace’ and ‘Roujin Z.’ He has earned multiple awards for his contributions to animation, including the Winsor McCay Award in 2014.
