Before embarking on his basketball career, Jones served in the United States Army and won a gold medal at the 1956 Summer Olympics. Known for his tenacious defense, he played all nine seasons of his NBA career with the Celtics, earning eight championships between 1959 and 1966. Jones passed away at 88 years old.
