Keene Curtis, an American actor, gained recognition for his performances on stage, television, and film. He started his career on Broadway, receiving a Tony nomination for his role in “The Rothschilds.” He is best known for his portrayal of John Allen Hill on the sitcom “Cheers.” Curtis also appeared in “Stargate SG-1,” “Slap Shot,” “The Nanny,” “Veronica’s Closet,” and “Walker, Texas Ranger.”

Curtis had recurring roles as John Allen Hill, the owner of Melville’s Restaurant in Cheers, and as a wealthy banker on the short-lived Bea Arthur show, Amanda’s. His numerous television credits include The Magician, where he played quirky columnist Max Pomeroy opposite Bill Bixby, Gypsy starring Bette Midler, and various guest appearances.

Born in the small town of Las Animas, Colorado, Curtis was the son of the town sheriff. Despite often portraying scruffy, uneducated, Deep-South hillbilly characters, he was not originally from the south.
