Kimi Raikkonen, born on October 17, 1979, in Espoo, Finland, is a Finnish racing driver who competed in Formula One from 2001 to 2021. The son of Matti and Paula Räikkönen, Kimi grew up in a family passionate about motorsports. He began karting at the age of 10 and completed his mandatory military service in Finland before pursuing a professional racing career.
Raikkonen started his professional racing career in Formula Renault in 1999 and went on to win the British Formula Renault Championship in 2000. He made his Formula One debut with Sauber in 2001 and joined McLaren in 2002, achieving his first Formula One victory at the 2003 Malaysian Grand Prix. In 2007, Raikkonen moved to Ferrari and won the Formula One World Championship, becoming the first Finnish driver to achieve this feat.
After a brief hiatus from Formula One, Raikkonen returned to McLaren in 2012 and later raced for Lotus and Ferrari again. He retired from Formula One at the end of the 2021 season, leaving behind an impressive record of 21 Formula One race victories, 103 podium finishes, and 18 fastest laps. Raikkonen also has multiple wins in the Race of Champions and was awarded the Laureus World Sportsman of the Year in 2008 and the BBC Overseas Sports Personality of the Year in 2007.
Known for his reserved and private nature, Raikkonen has been married to Minttu Räikkönen since 2016, and they have two children, Robin and Rianna.
