is a renowned Hungarian writer-director, best known for his Academy Award-winning film “Son of Saul” (2015). Other notable works include the short films “With a Little Patience” (2007) and his collaborations with prominent directors such as Michelangelo Antonioni, Andrei Tarkovsky, Ingmar Bergman, Terrence Malick, and Stanley Kubrick.
Nemes moved to New York to study film directing at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts after directing his first 35-mm short film, “With a Little Patience,” in September 2006. His second feature film, “Sunset,” was released in 2018.
Nemes has won numerous awards for his work, including the Grand Prix at the Cannes Film Festival, the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film, the European Film Award for Best Director, and the BAFTA Award for Best Foreign Language Film. He was also named one of the “10 Directors to Watch” by Variety magazine in 2016.
