LenÃn Boltaire Moreno Garcés, an Ecuadorian politician, held the position of the 46th president of Ecuador from 2017 to 2021 and served as vice president under President Rafael Correa from 2007 to 2013. As a prominent advocate for disability rights, Moreno has worked to enhance the lives of individuals with disabilities in Ecuador. He authored a book called “Laughing at My Nightmare,” which details his experiences living with quadriplegia. Since December 2013, Moreno has been the United Nations Special Envoy on Disability and Accessibility. As a paraplegic, he is among the few disabled leaders globally. In 2021, he gained attention for revoking the asylum status of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange.
