Leonard Garvey Pitts Jr. is an esteemed American commentator, journalist, and novelist. As a nationally syndicated columnist, his insightful commentary on the American experience, particularly the African-American experience, is widely read in approximately 150 newspapers across the United States. Pitts was awarded the 2004 Pulitzer Prize for Commentary, and has been honored with the Elijah Parish Lovejoy Award for courageous journalism.
