In 1962, Pauling received the Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts in promoting nuclear disarmament. As a significant contributor to quantum chemistry and molecular biology, he also conducted research on protein structures and promoted high-dose vitamin C intake. Throughout his career, Pauling published over 1,200 scientific and popular papers and wrote 14 books. He passed away on August 19, 1994, in Big Sur, California.
