Mary Jackson was a trailblazing African American mathematician and aerospace engineer, most notably recognized as the first African American female engineer at NASA. Her significant contributions to the US aeronautics industry included working on space flight trajectories, such as the Apollo 11 mission, conducting wind tunnel experiments, and authoring numerous papers. Jackson was also dedicated to promoting science education. While she had an illustrious engineering career, there is no evidence of her involvement in the entertainment industry or any other notable works or achievements. It is worth noting that there was a character actress named Mary Jackson, who was known for her recurring role as ‘Miss Emily’ Baldwin on the television series The Waltons; however, this is a different individual.
