Mary Theresa Schmich is a renowned American journalist and columnist who wrote for the Chicago Tribune from 1992 to 2021. She gained widespread recognition in 2012 when she received the prestigious Pulitzer Prize for her work. Schmich’s 1997 column, “Advice, like youth …Wear Sunscreen,” became an internet sensation and was later transformed into a popular spoken-word song by Baz Luhrmann. In addition to her journalism career, she penned the comic strip Brenda Starr, Reporter for nearly three decades and has written several books.
