Matthew David Cooke, a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player, is known for his aggressive playing style and controversial hits throughout his 16-season, 1,046-game career in the NHL. As a member of the Pittsburgh Penguins, he won the Stanley Cup in 2009 and also played for the Vancouver Canucks, Washington Capitals, and Minnesota Wild. Cooke was part of the Canadian team that won the gold medal at the 2004 World Championships and received the King Clancy Memorial Trophy in 2015 for his leadership both on and off the ice.
