British film director Michael Anderson (1920-2018) was renowned for his critically and commercially successful works. His most famous film, “Around the World in 80 Days,” won an Academy Award, and other notable works include “The Dam Busters,” “Operation Crossbow,” “Logan’s Run,” and “The Quiller Memorandum.” Anderson’s career began at Elstree studios as an office boy, and he went on to work in various genres, such as war films and sci-fi, across three countries for nearly 50 years. In 2012, he received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Directors Guild of Canada. Born in London, Anderson also directed television throughout his extensive career.
