Natasha Trethewey, a distinguished American poet and writer, held the position of the 19th Poet Laureate of the United States for two terms from 2012 to 2014. She gained recognition for her Pulitzer Prize-winning poetry collection, “Native Guard” (2006), which delves into themes of race, memory, and history. Trethewey’s other significant works include “Monument: Poems New and Selected” (2018), “Beyond Katrina: A Meditation on the Mississippi Gulf Coast” (2010), and her memoir, “Memorial Drive” (2020). She currently serves as the Board of Trustees Professor of English at Northwestern University.
