Otto von Bismarck, often referred to as the “Iron Chancellor,” was a significant Prussian and German statesman and diplomat instrumental in the 19th-century unification of Germany. As the first Chancellor of the German Empire, he served from 1871 to 1890. Bismarck’s most notable accomplishments include a series of brief, victorious wars that resulted in the consolidation of most of Germany under Prussian leadership. Additionally, he modernized the country and was instrumental in establishing the German Army and Navy. Bismarck’s other achievements encompass the creation of the world’s first modern welfare state and his contributions to contemporary international diplomacy. His life and career have been the focus of numerous books, films, and television shows, such as the 1940 film “Bismarck,” the 1990 miniseries “The Iron Chancellor,” and the 2014 biopic “Bismarck: The White Revolutionary.”
