Paul Simon is an American singer-songwriter who is best known for his work as one-half of the folk rock duo Simon & Garfunkel, with Art Garfunkel. His most famous works include “The Sound of Silence,” “Bridge Over Troubled Water,” and “Mrs. Robinson.” Simon has also had a successful solo career and has dabbled in acting and film scoring. Some of his other notable works include “Graceland,” “Rhythm of the Saints,” and the musical “The Capeman.” He is a 15-time Grammy Award winner and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice, both as a member of Simon & Garfunkel and as a solo artist.

According to various interviews given by Paul Simon over the years, he was named after his father, Louis Simon. He has stated that his father’s name was originally Lévy, but he changed it upon immigrating to the United States from Hungary. The name “Paul” was chosen by his mother, Belle, as it was a popular name at the time. Simon has mentioned that he has no middle name and has joked that he should have been named “Paul, the Apostle.”

Paul Simon is an avid baseball fan and has often incorporated references to the sport in his music. He is a supporter of the New York Mets and has even played in celebrity softball games. In 1987, he wrote the song “Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard,” which mentions a mystery involving “a radical priest” and “a baseball player.” He has also been known to wear baseball caps on stage during his performances.
