Peter BolesÅaw Schmeichel MBE, a Danish former professional footballer, played as a goalkeeper and is renowned for his eight seasons at Manchester United. During his time there, he captained the club to victory in the 1999 UEFA Champions League Final, achieving the Treble. Schmeichel also had a thriving international career with the Danish national team, winning the UEFA Euro 1992. As the most-capped Danish player in history and Denmark’s top goalkeeper, he has received numerous accolades, including being voted the IFFHS World’s Best Goalkeeper in 1992 and 1993. Schmeichel was also ranked among the Top 10 Goalkeepers of the 20th Century by IFFHS and named one of the 125 Greatest Living Footballers by FIFA. In 2003, he was inducted into the English Football Hall of Fame.
