Raymond Burr, a Canadian-American actor, gained recognition for his roles as TV lawyer Perry Mason and crime-solving Chief Ironside. Before achieving fame in these popular TV dramas, he was known as an iconic film noir villain. Burr’s career included a notable role in Alfred Hitchcock’s Rear Window (1954) and appearances in over 50 feature films between 1946 and 1957. His work in television earned him two Emmy Awards and a Golden Globe Award. Some of his other well-known works include Godzilla and Airplane II: The Sequel. Burr was also a passionate orchid collector and regarded as one of North America’s leading orchid experts. He passed away in 1993 at 76 years old.
