Robert Lowell was a renowned American poet recognized for his confessional poetry style, with his most famous work being “Life Studies” (1959), which delved into his tumultuous personal life. Among his other significant works were “For the Union Dead,” “Lord Weary’s Castle,” “The Dolphin,” and “Near the Ocean.” A two-time Pulitzer Prize winner, Lowell also taught at Harvard University and was an influential figure in the anti-Vietnam War movement.
