Robert Maynard Pirsig was an American writer and philosopher, renowned for his influential novel “Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance: An Inquiry into Values” (1974). This thought-provoking work became a hallmark of the late Beat/Hippie literary era and continues to captivate readers worldwide. Pirsig also penned “Lila: An Inquiry into Morals” (1991) and co-wrote “On Quality: An Inquiry Into Excellence: Selected and Unpublished Writings” (2022). He was honored with the Guggenheim Fellowship and National Book Award for his debut book. Pirsig passed away on April 24, 2017, at 88 years old.
