Robert Warwick, a distinguished matinée stage and silent-film actor, was known for his striking appearance and prosperous career. Born as Robert Taylor Bien in Sacramento, California, he initially pursued a career in opera. Warwick started his acting journey on Broadway in 1903, quickly gaining fame as a matinee idol. He starred in numerous films and stage productions, including the renowned silent films “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” and “The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.” Besides his acting career, Warwick served in World War I and authored a book about his experiences called “The Private Adventure of Captain Shaw.” A skilled polo player, he also captained the Wilshire Country Club’s Cowboy Polo Team.
