Saint Teresa of Avila, also known as Saint Teresa of Jesus, was a prominent Spanish mystic, writer, and religious reformer in the 16th century. She is best known for her influential spiritual writings, such as “The Life of Teresa of Jesus” and “Interior Castle.” Canonized as a saint by the Catholic Church in 1622, her teachings have significantly impacted Christian spirituality and contemplative prayer practices. Saint Teresa also had a strong devotion to the archangel Michael, writing a book about him and often invoking his intercession in her prayers.
