Michael Barratt, known as Shakin’ Stevens, is a Welsh musician recognized for his distinctive fusion of rock and roll, country, and pop music. He rose to international prominence in the 1980s with hits like “Green Door”, “This Ole House”, and “Merry Christmas Everyone”. As the UK’s top-selling singles artist of the 1980s, Stevens achieved four UK Number 1 singles and released successful albums such as “Give Me Your Heart Tonight” and “Let’s Boogie”. He continues to tour and record music, winning numerous awards, including a BRIT Award for Best British Male. Although offered the chance to portray Elvis Presley in the 1977 West End production of the musical “Elvis!”, Stevens declined to concentrate on his own music career. Drawing inspiration from Presley, he recorded a tribute album in 2001 titled “Lipstick, Powder and Paint: The New York Dolls on Fire”.
