Tewodros Kassahun Germamo, professionally known as Teddy Afro, is a renowned Ethiopian singer-songwriter who has made a significant impact on the country’s music history. He rose to fame for his revolutionary songs and expressions of political dissent. Among his most notable works is the album “Yasteseryal,” which holds the record for the highest-selling Ethiopian album ever. Other successful albums in his repertoire include “Ethiopia,” “Tikur Sew,” and “Ethiopia Volume 4.” Teddy Afro has received numerous awards, such as Best Male Artist of the Year at the All Africa Music Awards. Despite facing controversies and serving a two-year jail sentence in 2008 for a hit-and-run incident, he remains a prominent figure in Ethiopian music.
