Terry Melcher was a prominent American record producer and songwriter who significantly influenced the California Sound and folk rock movements during the mid-to-late 1960s. He gained recognition for producing the Byrds’ first two albums, “Mr. Tambourine Man” and “Turn! Turn! Turn!” as well as contributing to the Beach Boys’ hit album “Pet Sounds.” Apart from his work with renowned bands, Melcher also had a successful solo career, writing and producing songs for various artists. He occasionally appeared in television series and films, such as “Mister Ed” and “The Doris Day Show.” Sadly, Melcher passed away on November 19, 2004, at 62 years old after a battle with cancer.
