Vijayakanth, affectionately known as “Captain” Vijayakanth, is a prominent Indian actor and politician who rose to fame in the 1980s and 1990s through his roles in Tamil cinema. Some of his most notable films include “Captain Prabhakaran,” “Sattam Oru Iruttarai,” and “Chinna Gounder.” As the founder of the Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) political party, he has also served as the leader of the opposition in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly.
