Walter Jerry Payton, commonly known as “Sweetness,” was an American professional football running back who spent 13 seasons with the Chicago Bears in the NFL. Often regarded as one of the greatest football players in history, Payton was selected for the Pro Bowl nine times and held multiple rushing records upon his retirement in 1987.
