Michael Wansley, known as Wanz, is an American R&B, pop, and hip-hop singer, songwriter, and rapper born in Seattle, Washington, in 1961. He gained significant recognition for his collaboration with Macklemore and Ryan Lewis on the chart-topping hit “Thrift Shop,” which earned him a Grammy Award. Some of his other notable works include “Family,” “Shot Caller,” and “To: Nate Dogg.” Besides his music career, Wanz has worked as a software test engineer, karaoke host, licensed hypnotherapist, and mentor and life coach for young people. His stage name, Wanz, originated from a military nickname, “The Wanzer.”
