William Hartnell, an English actor, gained recognition for his portrayal of the iconic science fiction character “Doctor Who” in its first incarnation. Throughout his extensive career, he appeared in various films and television programs, including “Brighton Rock,” “Carry On Sergeant,” and “This Sporting Life.” In 1956, he received the BAFTA award for Best British Actor for his role in “This Sporting Life.” Unfortunately, Hartnell suffered from arteriosclerosis, leading to memory lapses during his time on “Doctor Who” and ultimately causing him to leave the show in 1966. He eventually passed away due to an arteriovenous malformation.
