Born in Alabama on March 18, 1941, he gained prominence in the 1960s with his distinctive gruff and energetic style. Pickett’s most renowned songs include “In the Midnight Hour,” “Mustang Sally,” and “Land of 1,000 Dances.” In 1991, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Throughout his career, Pickett collaborated with various musicians, such as Duane Allman and Bobby Womack. Despite encountering challenges in his career, he continued to perform and produce music until his passing in 2006.
