Zach Randolph, also known as Z-Bo, is a retired American professional basketball player who played for various NBA teams, including the Memphis Grizzlies, New York Knicks, and Portland Trail Blazers. Renowned for his low post skills and physicality, Randolph was a two-time NBA All-Star and received the NBA Sportsmanship Award in 2014. In addition to his successful career, he is involved in philanthropic activities, such as donating to charities and supporting his hometown community in Indiana.
Randolph began his professional career when the Portland Trail Blazers drafted him in 2001. He stayed with the team until 2007, averaging 16.6 points and 9.1 rebounds per game. His performance led to him being named the NBA’s Most Improved Player in 2004. Later, he played for the Memphis Grizzlies and the New York Knicks.
His first AAU coach gave Randolph the nickname “Z-Bo” by adding a “Z” to his initials.
Randolph and his family experienced homelessness during his childhood, often sleeping in their car or motels. Despite these challenges, he remained dedicated to basketball as a means of overcoming his difficult circumstances.
In 2022, Randolph announced his retirement from the NBA, leaving a lasting impact on the league through his on-court contributions and off-court philanthropy.
